Course Description: The course starts by discussing the philosophy of a risk based approach to internal audit and then moves on to explain how to plan and control an audit and identify risks in financial services. There is a focus on the IIA Code and how it affects the internal auditor, the preparation and structure of workpapers and basic interview techniques. It concludes with a review of Root Cause Analysis and reviews the best way to pull together the issues that have been found and suggests a methodology on how to prepare a report.
Target Audience: The course is aimed at those who are new to internal audit in financial services and those in jurisdictions which are beginning to embrace the concept as they move from a more traditional “tick and bash” approach.
Course Length: Four modules, each approx. 45 minutes.
